You can only save 1 EBT card to your account. If you need to change your EBT card, remove the first one before adding another.
Note: You must also add a credit or debit card to your account to use your EBT card. 
Your credit or debit card covers bottle deposits in some states, taxes, delivery tips, and any other non-EBT eligible items you may want to purchase.

Remove EBT Card from Your Account

To request a refund for EBT-eligible items or if you’d like to return an item purchased with an EBT card, please ask Instacart's support team instead of Gelson’s. Only Instacart can process a refund for online EBT SNAP purchases.
EBT items are refunded and processed within the same day to your EBT account.

SNAP/EBT Refunds & Returns

Note: Before checking out, you can confirm which items are EBT-eligible by selecting the item. Once selected, you'll see SNAP under the item's price.
An EBT card can buy the following items
<ul>
 <li>Fruits and vegetables</li>
 <li>Meat, poultry, and fish</li>
 <li>Dairy products</li>
 <li>Breads and cereals</li>
 <li>Other foods such as snack foods and non-alcoholic beverages</li>
 <li>Seeds and plants, which produce food for the household to eat</li>
</ul>
An EBT card can't buy the following items
<ul>
 <li>Alcoholic beverages such as:</li>
 <li>Beer,</li>
 <li>Wine</li>
 <li>Liquor</li>
 <li>Vitamins, medicines, and supplements</li>
 <li>If an item has a Supplement Facts label, it is considered a supplement and is not eligible for EBT SNAP purchases.</li>
 <li>Live animals (except shellfish, fish removed from water, and animals slaughtered prior to pick-up from the store).</li>
 <li>Prepared foods fit for immediate consumption</li>
 <li>Hot foods</li>
 <li>Any nonfood items such as:<ul>
 <li>Pet foods</li>
 <li>Cleaning supplies</li>
 <li>Paper products</li>
 <li>Other household supplies</li>
 <li>Hygiene items</li>
 <li>Cosmetics</li>
 </ul></li>

Note: An EBT card can’t cover the cost of bottle deposit fees, taxes, tips, and any non-EBT items. To cover these costs, you must also add a valid credit or debit card to your account.

EBT-Eligible Items

Check Out with Your EBT Card

EBT cards only cover the cost of EBT-eligible items. 
You must add a credit or debit card to your account to cover the cost of bottle deposit fees, taxes, tips, and any non-EBT items.
Adjust charges between payment methods 
Look under Your payment split at the bottom of the Place Order page to see the expected charges to each payment method. Select Change to adjust the charges.
You can also adjust charges after checking out, up until delivery. After delivery, you can no longer adjust your payment split. You can’t increase the amount charged to your EBT card if it exceeds the total amount of EBT-eligible items in your order.

Charges to EBT Card or Credit/Debit Card

Changes to weighted items
You may see a by-weight item message under your EBT card at checkout. Your shopper may need to adjust the weight of items like meat or produce due to in-store availability. 
If the new weight is higher than what you ordered, we charge the extra cost to your credit or debit card, or you can remove the item and get a refund.
Note: Items added after checkout or any changes to weighted items automatically charge to your credit or debit card. If the item is EBT-eligible, you can change this charge to your EBT card up until your order is delivered.

Add Items After Checkout

After placing your order, you can select replacement items if the item you want is out of stock. 
To avoid charges on your credit or debit card, replacements for EBT SNAP items must be:

<ol><li>EBT-eligible</li><li>Equal to or less than the value of the original item</li></ol>
If the EBT-eligible replacement costs more, the difference is charged to the credit or debit card you used at checkout. When searching for replacement items, look for SNAP under the price of each item to know if it is EBT-eligible.
Shoppers can replace EBT items with non-EBT items.

 <li>You can approve or refund non-EBT replacements before the shopper checks out.</li>
 <li>If you approve, we charge your credit or debit card for the item.</li>
</ul>
