Serves 5

Using a combination of our best quality cocoa powder, dark chocolate, and milk, this rich beverage is full of cholesterol-lowering flavonoids and bone-building calcium. Enjoy this during the winter months in place of dessert. This recipe can easily be doubled to serve 10.

    Ingredients:
  • 1 quart plus 1 cup Broguere's nonfat milk
  • 2 strips orange zest
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 cup Scharfen Berger cocoa powder, sifted
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 squares Scharfen Berger semisweet pure dark chocolate, chopped
    Directions:
  1. In a medium saucepan combine 1 quart of milk, orange zest, and cinnamon stick. Cook over moderately high heat until bubbles start to form around the edges. Cover and remove from heat. Let stand for 30 minutes. Remove the orange zest and cinnamon stick.

  2. Whisk the cocoa powder and sugar into the warm milk. Return to moderate heat, and add the chopped chocolate and remaining cup of milk. Whisk constantly until the cocoa is smooth. Serve immediately.
